Yes. Artists and labels are solely responsible for their own income tax obligations arising from sales through Subvert.
Subvert does not withhold income tax from payouts. You receive your full earnings (after Stripe fees and the Rights Reserve) and are responsible for reporting and paying any applicable income tax in your jurisdiction.
Tax forms If you meet the relevant reporting thresholds, Subvert will issue an IRS Form 1099-K or other required tax forms annually for the prior calendar year. These are sent to the email address on your account.
Sales tax and VAT Subvert handles sales tax, VAT, and other applicable transaction taxes on purchases where required by law. These are calculated at checkout and collected from the buyer - you don't need to manage this yourself.
EU and UK VAT For buyers located in the EU or UK, VAT may be applied to digital purchases in accordance with applicable digital services tax rules. This is handled by Subvert and displayed to buyers at checkout.
We're not able to provide individual tax advice. If you have questions about your specific tax obligations, we recommend consulting a tax professional familiar with your jurisdiction.
